Sofa Recover…worth it?

There is no doubt a sofa recovery cost money. The average 2-seater will start at min $2000 with a 3-seater $2500-$3000 plus. There are a few important factors that should be considered which will help with decision making.

“Is it worth it to get my sofa recovered?”

This is a question often asked. The short answer is - sometimes it defiantly is. The most important thing to consider is what you're starting with. What is the condition and quality of the sofa needing recovery? Another important thing to bear in mind when considering sofa recovery or sofa reupholstery is no matter what the brand, quality or condition of the sofa it will always cost as mentioned above. If you have a sofa which was originally well made, then it will defiantly be worth recovery. Antique sofas, mid-century, Italian/European manufactured and reputable Australia made sofas are normally worth the effort to recover. Sofas made is Asia will most likely not be. Due to poor materials and workmanship in the originally cheaper sofas, they can often cost more to recover. They will also often not be great when finished. They are not the type of sofa that should be considered for recovery.

Another important factor when considering sofa reupholstery is durability. A quality sofa recovered and reupholstered well, will last many year’s longer than anything available in the cheap to mid-range. Cheap to mid-range in Australia is, for example, 2-seater starting about $800 to $3-4000. There are also some brands in Australia that are above this range in price, but the quality is still quite low. Remember buyer beware.
