Upholstered Walls

Upholstered walls are becoming more and more popular in both commercial and residential areas. In commercial projects they are used to create privacy in meeting rooms or to improve acoustics in large AV rooms. In residential applications they are often used in home theaters. They are also a great way to create a decorative feature wall using a patterned fabric. In bedrooms they can create a restful environment dulling noise and insulating from outside noise.

There are two main methods to upholster a wall. Traditional upholstery OR using a track system. Traditional upholstery is just that. The wall is lightly padded then the cover fabric is stapled around the edges, trimmed and then finished using upholstery technique i.e., studs, braiding, piping etc. Track systems use a plastic track fixed around the edges. The fabric is then stretched and attached into the track and clipped closed.

One very useful feature of the track system when upholstering walls is that the fabric is able to be changed without too much fuss. Once the track is installed its straightforward to give a room a makeover by simply changing the fabric.

The Upholstery Studio is experienced in Traditional Wall upholstery and are also familiar with most of the track systems on the market. Not many upholsterers are confident or have the necessary skills to upholster walls. The Upholstery Studio has a lot of experience in upholstered walls.
